DeepShrink or ChatGPT?
Many people already talk things through with ChatGPT. Here is how DeepShrink differs, and when ChatGPT is the better choice.
| What you might look for | DeepShrink | ChatGPT |
|---|---|---|
| What it is for | Thinking things through, and nothing else | Almost anything: writing, work, code and questions |
| Memory you can read and correct | Yes, and every note shows the words it came from | Partly: a list of saved memories, without the words they came from |
| Nothing it works out about you is used until you keep it | Yes | No |
| Honest pushback when you want it | Yes, in the Challenge me mode | Partly, through its personality settings |
| Step-by-step techniques | 93 techniques, plus journeys and short resets | No library; it can describe a technique in chat |
| Where your words are stored | In the EU | Not in the EU |
| Voice | Dictation and read-aloud | Live voice conversation |
| Price | Free during the beta; then 19.99 € a month or 149.99 € a year on the web, or 22.99 € or 169.99 € in the App Store and Google Play (planned) | Free, or about 8 € to 23 € a month for Go or Plus |
When ChatGPT is the better choice
If you want one assistant for everything, from emails to recipes, ChatGPT does far more than DeepShrink, and it is free to start. It has live voice conversation, which DeepShrink does not have yet. And if you have years of history there and it already knows you well enough, starting again somewhere else may not be worth it. DeepShrink does one thing: it helps you think things through, keeps notes you can read, and tells you when it disagrees.
